First Look: J.McLaughlin opens menswear store — with more to come
Sportswear brand J.McLaughlin has opened a store dedicated to its expanding menswear collection in a high-status location.
The 488-sq.-ft. men's-only store is located at 150 Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, Fla. J.McLaughlin said it has been expanding its men’s collection since 2021 with a focus on “enhancing cut, silhouette, styling and colors,” as well as upgrading its accessories and collaborating with companies, such as Stubbs & Wootten and English shoemaker Sanders.
The Palm Beach shop is only the second J.McLaughlin mens-only store to open in the brand's 46-year history. (In August 2023, the company converted its Bridgehampton, N.Y. store to all menswear.) With plans for more menswear stores in the future, it reflects the company’s continued focus on its men’s category and the male customer.
In keeping with the Palm Beach setting, the store is open and airy, with features that include mid-century lighting, cerused oak cabinets, white and gray marble tiles, and ficus trees. It stocks a wide selection of J.McLaughlin men’s apparel and accessories, including the brand’s best sellers, pieces from its holiday 2023 collection and resort styles such as linen shirts, novelty pants and shorts, sport coats and polos.
“We are thrilled to open our first J.McLaughlin men’s store in Palm Beach on the iconic Worth Avenue,” said Kevin McLaughlin, co-founder and chief creative officer at J.McLaughlin. “There’s no better way to tell the J.McLaughlin story than in a shop, and our handsome new addition will provide a unique experience for our customers. Every detail has been carefully curated - from artwork to furniture. Many don't know this, but when my brother Jay and I started J.McLaughlin in 1977, we actually began as a menswear business, which is why I am excited to showcase our men's collection in a fresh way again with this new store."
J.McLaughlin, which is owned by private equity firm Brentwood Associates, operates more than 170 stores nationwide.
